Happy Birthday, America!!!
Ideally, tonight would be my little family at the ballpark, sharing the wonder of America with our friends at the stadium. We'd probably leave before fireworks so Duncan wouldn't get scared (plus they're really loud). Instead we're spending the evening in the NICU. We do have our window so we'll be able to see the fireworks. If we stay that late. We may just come home & go to bed.
Duncan did really well this morning. He ate at 9 from both me & from the bottle. At the noon feeding he was a bit angry. Well, angry is putting it mildly. He was seriously cheesed off. Which is interesting because he's not a crier. He fusses a bit and lets out a cry or two but not too much. But he was crying and crying and there was nothing we could do to soothe him. We're pretty sure he had a gas bubble or something equally uncomfortable. He finally fell asleep around 1 or so. Aaron & I went & ate our lunch then came back. Poor little guy woke up again around 2. We cuddled him and around 2:30 tried to get him to eat something but he had used up all his energy crying and just couldn't nipple anything. We fed him most of his milk through the gavage tube and the nurse (bless her) ordered some baby Gas-X to try & help his poor belly. I'm hoping it will help. The nurses offered to hold Duncan so Aaron & I could get a break (what will we do when we don't have nurses???). He had calmed down considerably when we left at 3:30. Hopefully he's over the worst.
You will call Auntie Carly who has yet to let a crying baby get the best of her! You guys aren't alone. I hope Mighty D is feeling better today.
